There is so much ignorance and stupidity on the part of the writers of this piece that there is no where that it is easy to begin. It is a combination of made up stories, made up law, and made up ideas. There is close to not a single idea in this piece that could stand public scrutiny.
The price of professionalism, the cost of free speech - PUC Chronicle - Purdue University Calumet.
The PUC student newspaper continues to show its ignorance of both free speech and prejudice, especially when it comes to antisemitism. If they think I am bigoted so be it. Satirize it. Do not use an antisemitic canard that has been used by everyone from the Czars to Goebbels as the Jew as "puppeteer." There you have changed from satire to sheer antisemitism. The reality is that it is not any different than being critical of Rep. Jackson by portraying him as "step and fetch it" or symbolizing a Mexican as speedy Gonzales. As a friend of mine characterized it, it is not sufficient to just show me (by the way I am not identified in any way); but, the author had to have the antisemitic image of the "puppeteer Jew" to begin with to have created this cartoon. This is not an issue of free speech. No one says the author should be expelled or the newspaper censured. The issue is one of calling something what it is; especially since that is how the newspaper argued I should be treated, if not worse. I am only asking that the University explain its position. By the way, it was Dean Corthell of LASS who told me there is not antisemitism permitted at Purdue. He must be the joke then.
