Is this a bad joke? No one in law enforcement in Lake County would agree that there is any, and I mean any truth to this study. It is essentially at best a bad joke and at worse or way to mislead NWI citizens about how bad local government is, in many way, but in particulat when it comes to corruption. The head line of the following Post Tribune story is extremely misleading.
Study: Northern Indiana corruption not so bad - Post-Tribune.
U. S. Attorney Capp points out quite clearly what the problem is with the data. It includes the most petty infractions with major public corruption crimes. Each one in the data base is equal to 1, That is they have "corruption equivalancy," which is just not true when you are measuring its consequances for the local citizens.
As I have frequently argued, the Lake County Democratic Party (under Baby Mac) is a corrupt institution as characterized by Indiana's RICO statute. If any of the evidence was available, that would be shown in court. Nonetheless, I doubt than any member of the FBI here would disagree. The corruption in the Northern Lake County cities is one of the factors that have destroyed them and turned business away. If the Democrats proceed further in Lake County, business will leave there also.
Just look at the population to conviceted public officials and you will see that consistantly, Lake County corruption is the norm. It is rare when a public official is not acting corruptly.
